Our Design Story
Ankara notes started with our signature hardcover ankara notebook. Created using the wonderful artisan craft of bookbinding, each one of our books is handmade from pages to cover and we hope that the time and care put into each one is felt every time you receive and use them.
We use high quality, environmentally friendly materials to create our notebooks and love to find ways of using what would be scrap or waste material to create new & beautiful items. The vibrant ankara fabric we use, also known as Dutch wax print, originate from a range of west African countries where these vivid materials are prominent and a deep part of the culture and can be used to communicate a story or symbolism.
We hope that all of our products connect people to African culture and heritage and encourage exploration of self, others and the continent.
